Towards the ratification of ILO Convention No 189 in the EU
Member States received the Council of Minister’s consent to ratify ILO Convention 189.
On the 28th of January 2014, the EU’s Council of Ministers adopts a decision authorising Member States to ratify the ILO Convention concerning fair and decent work for domestic workers. The Decision was proposed by the Commission in March 2013 and endorsed by the European Parliament in December 2013.
On this occasion, László Andor, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion declared that “improving working conditions in personal services in a key objective for the Commission”.
